Meet Angela Lowery, Clinical Supervisor for Treatment Foster Care and Transitional Living for our North Mississippi Region. Join our team in northern Mississippi today as a Mental Health Therapist in Tupelo or Columbus.
1. What was your educational/experience background before coming to Youth Villages?
I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work and became a Licensed Social Worker. Before coming to Youth Villages, I worked for 10 years as a manager of Family Services for Head Start where I hired, trained and supervised Family Service staff in 13 counties. I was also responsible for the performance standard reviews, agency staff training on abuse and neglect and the agency audit. I worked for 5 years at Marshall County Department of Human Services as a Licensed Social Worker dealing with abuse and neglect.
2. What do you love about living in your town?
I live in Columbus, MS which is an Air Force Base town. It has lots of resources, great schools, and also has a great retirement community. I enjoy cooking and visiting with family and friends. Starkville, home of Mississippi State, and Tupelo are also nearby with many things to do. This website offers some great highlights about Tupelo where we are also hiring staff.
One of the challenges of my job in the Foster Care program is finding treatment foster parents that are willing to work with our youth that have more intensive behaviors.
4. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Finding permanency for the youth we serve is the most rewarding part of my job, whether through adoption or reunification with their families.
