Meet George Edmonds: Regional Supervisor of Western North Carolina

George Edmonds started out as a Pilot Family Intervention Specialist in our Knoxville office 6 years ago. Our Pilot program allows less experienced but high potential counselors to start a career at Youth Villages. Pilot Counselors have a lower caseload and work closely with their supervisor and coworkers to develop their skills. The Knoxville office had a good eye because today George is the Regional Manager over our Western North Carolina offices: Asheville, Boone, and Greensboro.

George was originally attracted to Youth Villages because everything is outcome-based and researched; he loved knowing that the work he was doing was proven to be successful. Despite this, George wasn’t sure how long he would be here. George recalled, “I didn’t start at Youth Villages thinking I would find a career. Simply, I needed a job. The growth of Youth Villages’ programs and the development I received gave me the ability to advance in my career.” Through his time here, George has learned the value of Youth Villages’ services and seen how our counselors impact children and families. George’s development here at Youth Villages has enabled him to not only directly work with our kids and families, but also to oversee our expansion into the Asheville, NC and Boone, NC areas. Youth Villages’ success in these markets is a testament to George’s hard work and dedication to his staff. If you are interested in becoming a part of George’s team, we are always excited to meet great counselors, social workers, and therapists interested in working with our families. We are currently hiring in our Boone, NC office; you can learn more about our Family Counselor’s role and apply at: www. youthvillages.org/jobs .
